Awake and tired

I am once again in that weird stage of tired but not sleepy. So I sit here. TV is not appealing. I once attempted to pay my bills at this hour and added an extra zero to my rent causing extreme glee to my realtor. I think it unwise to pursue bill paying anymore when I feel this way. I did manage as previously posted to go to the grocery today - I waved at the video camera as a sign that I arrived in peace! I did manage to stay on my feet, but did drop a book in the book display section. Yes, I was carrying my groceries again - I don’t get a cart or a basket as I am trying my hardest to not over shop for more than I need. Wegmans is the amazing at marketing things I love in places like the soda section which can draw my attention into hyper drive and excitement! Look at this Christmas decoration!!! okay, it is october unless I feel asleep longer last night for longer than I thought - I woke up to snow and Christmas decorations at the store. I pondered the date seriously for several aisles and was acutely relieved to see pumpkins finally. What do you all read for inspiration? What do you read for fun?

My favorite author has to be Rober Ludlum. I also love WWII novels...and movies...and documentaries...ANYWAY, Right now, I am reading "Gone" by Jonathan Kellerman. Cannot seem to get through The Janson Directive for some strange reason. So, I just put it down and went for the realy brain candy...no offense to Jonathan Kellerman readers....I LOVE the Alex Delaware series.

Hey Patti,
I don know whether you would read this or not or when. I read a book by Paulo Cohelo, THE ALCHEMIST. I have never read such an inspirational book. Get it.

It seems I have a lot to learn from you. I would come here again & again. Sometimes you might come to know, at other times, maybe not.

Take care,
Tushar

I just started reading 'The Skills of Leadership' by John Adair. Along with it, I am just about to read 'The Tiger's Child', a sequel to 'One Child' by Torey Hayden. Before them I read 'The Day The Voices Stopped' by Ken Steele, and 'Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the window' by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi. I read comic books and journals of literature (poems, short stories) in between.
For inspiration, I sometimes open my diary and re-read the old entries.

I have just finished a book by Gerry Spence. It's called "From Freedom To Slavery" and is written very well. I do not agree with at least half the things he says, maybe less than half, but the way that he writes is amazing. If you want to learn how to write well, I suggest reading that book.

I am now reading a book called "1215" and here is the specs on it:
Product Details:
ISBN: 0743257731
Format: Hardcover, 312pp
Pub. Date: June 2004
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Trade
Edition Description: First Touchtone Edition
Edition Number: 1
This book is pretty good so far... it doesn't really tell about the Magna Carta as much as it does tell you about the way that people lived in that year. Family problems, school ideals, religion, farming, and all sorts of things that people experienced in that year. Maybe 800 years from now someone will write a book on the year "2005"?

Good question!

Patti ... Callie recommended that I visit you ... and after reading your entry today, I have a suggestion for the next ime you are having trouble going to sleep.

My mother used to tell me that on those nights when I had a tough time sleeping to get up and read but do not cover yourself with a blanket! When you start to get chilled, go back to bed, pull the covers up and it allows you to be just like you were going to bed for the 1st time and as your body warms up the bed, you go back to sleep.

But, I added one more step to the process ... I say the "Lord's Prayer" ... there is something about saying that prayer for me to come to peace of mind and sleep follows before I reach the end.

Sure, it could be mind over matter ... but sometimes, that is exactly what we need. Peace of mind.

Try it, you might like it.

May the sleep be with you!

I'm pretty sure I've told you this already recently but I can't remember for sure so here it goes again.

"A million little pieces" - James Fry

&

"Lucky" - Alice Sebold

Both are not exactly upbeat and happy in fact they both are telling their "true" story of probably the darkest days of their lives. But right now it's what I want to read.

To Collins list I would add Dyer's latest book...forgot the title... Something Power of Spirit... His picture is on the cover and he is praying... I will get you the title later.
The Power of Now is awsome but bit confusing...
I would recommend book on tape called "The Power of Mind to Heal the Body" by Joan Borisenko, and anything by Max Lucado.
If you want a book 'about my life' read The Little Prince...

Patti, just noticed your post about HS days. Go ahead and order the t-shirt - yes, I was talking about you. Worried about the post quite a bit because of the dynamics of so many classes. You would have been one of the smart ones because of way you phrase things. You have a wonderful gift of being able to verbalize your day to day struggles as well as acknowledging that for which you are thankful for. It takes a wise person to realize that even though the days are filled with struggle there are even more blessings! -c

Hey patti,

Thanks for your random tangent of thoughts on my blog. Have you always not been able to sleep? Or has that happened since your injury?

I have read several books recently that have inspired me.

"The Power of the Now", by Eckhart Tolle
"The Power of Intention", by Wayne Dyer
"The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire", by Deepak Chopra

ummmmmm, can't think of anything else right now. I will have to get back to you. I don't have any single book that I read for inspiration. I need one though. I tried reading the Bible more often but my motivation slowly faded.

Anyways, I'm going to try and write something.

Talk to you soon,

Colin
